So much change... for everyone's benefit!
Thank you for all of your patronage and support over the past 47 years! It is appreciated more than you know.
As the owner of Par Pool & Spa, I wanted to let you know that Par Pool & Spa will be closing its retail store on Sunday, September 30, 2018. We are NOT going out of business, but we are dramatically changing how we do business for now & the future.
This has been a very difficult decision to make, but these changes needed to be done. After the July 28, death of my wife Barbara, a few personal needs have to be met. Scroll down for Barbara's obituary.
During September, Par Pool & Spa will be conducting a Store Clearance Sale on all of the products that you love: BioGuard, SpaGuard, Pristine Blue, in-stock filters, pumps, pool cleaning accessories, spa & hot tub fragrances & accessories, grilling tools and a whole lot more with savings of 10% to 60%. Everything in-stock is available on a first come, first served basis.
Barbara Anne Kosch Parrs went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ, early Saturday morning, July 28, 2018, at Shands Hospital, University of Florida, in Gainesville, FL, after a prolonged illness.
Barbara was born to Frank (d. 2010) and Helen (d. 2015) Kosch of Flemington, NJ on March 7, 1959. Barbara was the second of 4 girls born to Frank and Helen. She attended school in Flemington and graduated from Hunterdon Central High School in June 1977. Barbara went on to major in Fashion Merchandising at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst where she earned a Bachelors degree and graduated in 1981.
After graduation, Barbara went on to work at G. Fox & Co., a major department store chain in New England where she eventually was promoted to Assistant Operations Manager for their flagship store in downtown Hartford, CT. Over the years Barbara worked at various positions in CT but most memorably at Thompson & Peck Insurance in New Haven, CT, prior to her diagnosis of renal (kidney) failure in March 1991.
Following a kidney transplant in July 1991 and a pancreas transplant in October 1995 (which ”cured” her of diabetes), Barbara became an aerobics instructor at a local fitness center.
Barbara met her husband Ronald Parrs in February of 1984. They were engaged in June and married on October 27 of that same year. In 1988, Barbara and Ron adopted their first child, Bethany Kaye Parrs at the age of 4 months through Bethany Christian Services. In 2002, after many years of talking about adopting another child, Barbara and Ron adopted Nikolai Nikolaevich Parrs of Tyumen, Russia, through the Bridge of Hope Program sponsored by Cradle of Hope Adoption Center. Nik was 9 years old at the time of his adoption. Two years later in 2004, Barbara and Ron returned to Tyumen to adopt Aleksei Nikolaevich Parrs through the same agency. Aleksei was 7 years old at the time.
In her “spare” time, Barbara was an active member of Calvary Evangelical Free Church of Trumbull, CT, participating in the choir and junior high youth groups. Barbara’s other hobbies included gardening, working out and she had a love for building Victorian style doll houses.
Due to health concerns, Barbara relocated to Ocala, FL in December 2012. In Ocala, Barbara worked part time for the Helping Hands Foundation, a non-profit Christian organization which provides shelter and related assistance to the homeless and less fortunate.
After suffering renal failure in February of 2017, Barbara slowed down her lifestyle until early May 2018 when she suffered a stroke. Although valiant in her tenacity to live, with God’s grace, her body finally surrendered in the early morning hours of Saturday, July 28. Barbara’s husband Ron remained at her side during her final weeks.
Barbara is survived by her husband Ron, children Bethany, Nikolai, and Aleksei of Shelton, CT, and a grandson Caleb Michael Gilles. Barbara is also survived by her three sisters, Susan Kosch Suman of Tempe, AZ, Nancy Kosch MacKinnon of Andover, NH, and Frances Kosch Gallant of Plaistow, NH. Nieces and nephews, Kylea and Grant Suman, Robert and Jason MacKinnon, and Michael Gallant, plus various aunts, uncles and cousins in New Jersey, and friends from around the world.
A Memorial Service will be held for Barbara at Calvary Evangelical Free Church, 498 White Plains Rd, Trumbull, CT 06611, on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at 11 am. A brief reception will follow immediately.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask you to donate to the Helping Hands Foundation (www.HelpingHandsOcala.org) in Ocala, FL. Their address is 101 NE 16th Ave, Ocala, FL 34470. Please mark your checks in the memo area “in memory of Barbara Parrs” or you may donate at their secure website.
